Athletics Participation Fees:

There is a $60 fee for participation in sports. This fee covers all three seasons of sports and can be paid in the MEMS front office.  Please note that we cannot refund fees for students who choose not to participate after paying the fees, and we cannot prorate fees.

Athletes will be issued a jersey, and in some cases, additional equipment for their season.  They are responsible for the care of the issued item(s) and returning them at the end of the season.  Lost or damaged items will incur a $40 replacement fee per item.

Registering for a Sport:

All athletes must be registered for participation before the season registration deadline through Aktivate (formerly Register My Athlete).  New students, medical excuses, or emergencies will be the only exceptions to the cutoff dates.

Your help is essential to running our programs.  We are in need of coaches and referees:

Coaches are paid a $1,000 stipend per team.  Referee pay ranges between $30 and $40 per game, depending on the sport.  There is a short application process.  All coaches and refs must have a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Current postings for fall sports are under the Athletics and Activities tab on the FUSD Employment Opportunities page. Scroll until you find the desired position, click here to Apply to Coach or Referee.

MEMS athletics is a recreational sports program open to all students, regardless of their athletic abilities or experience.  We strive to provide equal playing opportunities and create a supportive environment that will encourage students to engage in physical activity well beyond their school years.  We encourage all students to take advantage of this time to play together, stay healthy together, and work hard together while they are with us at Mount Elden Middle School.

Eligibility Grade Checks:

A student receiving a grade of 1 in at least one of their classes cannot participate in competition that week and will remain ineligible until the grade is brought up to a 2 or higher. Grades will be reviewed on a weekly basis for progress.
