Coconino County Superintendent of Schools Cheryl Mango-Paget Seeking Candidates to Run for Flagstaff Unified School District Governing Board
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County Superintendent of Schools, Cheryl Mango-Paget, is encouraging community members who are passionate about public education to consider running for the Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) Governing Board in the 2026 election.
There are two four-year seats available on the FUSD Governing Board. Successful candidates will serve a term beginning January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2030. The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Serving on a school district governing board offers a meaningful opportunity for community members to help shape educational policy, provide oversight, and support student success in Flagstaff’s public schools.
To support prospective candidates, Superintendent Mango-Paget will host a community information session on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, at the Flagstaff Unified School District Main Office in the Board Room, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendees will learn about the responsibilities of governing board members, the candidate filing process, and election requirements. Governing Board Election packets will be available, and Superintendent Mango-Paget will be present to answer questions and accept Statements of Interest.

To be eligible as a School District Governing Board candidate, individuals must:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be a registered voter in Arizona
- Have resided within the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election
- Not be an employee of the district, nor the spouse of a district employee or third-party vendor
- Not serve simultaneously with an immediate family member who has shared a residence within the previous four years, pursuant to A.R.S. § 15-421
- Not serve on more than one School District Governing Board at the same time
